From 2022-2023, The American Swedish Institute’s (Minneapolis, MN) Family Gallery was transformed into a vibrant and immersive space for young visitors to experience stories created by local artists and fifth grade students from Hope Academy. Illustration and sculpture, large- and small-scale play elements, and areas for quiet play and reading, offered hands-on play and learning opportunities for children and accompanying adults.

Each component was created in collaboration with Hope Academy students in workshops. Drawings, models, sculptures, videos and pictures shared the creative process behind the finished Family Gallery, and explained how the children fabricated and shared their stories through art and design.

Role: Illustration, Design, Art Direction, Youth Workshop Lead

Team: Seth Eberle and Bart Buch (Puppetry); Trent Stadler (Fabrication)
